The Game's last album, 2012's Jesus Piece moved 86,000 units in its first week, and ended up selling close to 300,000 copies in the United States. Not blockbuster numbers, but enough to pay lots of folks' bills.

Blood of the Moon which The Game dropped on Tuesday, is only projected to sell 28,000 copies in its first week, despite generally positive reviews and a who's who list of guest stars from Lil Wayne to T.I. to Young Jeezy. The album was initially conceived as a Blood Money compilation, but ended up being released as a Game solo album.

It's no mystery record sales are plummeting in all genres in this digital age, with Hip Hop particularly vulnerable because so much new stuff gets released for free as mixtapes.

Furthermore, The Game's more anticipated solo album The Documentary 2 is slated for release  in January of 2015, and his fans might be saving their hard earned bucks for that.

Still, Year of the Wolf had some good word of mouth before release, and The Game is one of the bigger names in the Game. (At least we thought so.)

Do you think Blood of the Moon's soft sales are a result of The Game's dwindling reputation, or a lack of quality material? Or was it a victim of forces outside of his control.
