GQ has just released a 13 part documentary on sneaker culture, featuring Wale, Rob Dydrek and other sneakerheads.
Perhaps the most notable of the episode is 11, in which they tackle sneaker-related violence.
The five minute clip features video of the mayhem that often transpires during big sneaker releases, and tells the tragic tales of sneakerheads who were murdered for their kicks.
At the end of the episode, there is a startling revelation: 1200 people a year (or about 20 a week) are killed in sneaker-related violence.
GQ doesn't explain how they came to that total. And, frankly, it seems high. But it's safe to say that even one person killed for their shoes is way too many.
