J. Cole gave Adam of NoJumper a rare interview.

The chat starts with Cole and Adam, who's an atheist, debating religion.

After that, Cole admitted that he went a few years without following Hip-Hop.

But, oddly, one of the things that pulled him back into keeping up with the game was the notorious video of XXXTentacion getting punched and knocked out on stage in San Diego.

"I got a little jaded,” Cole said of his detachment from Hip Hop. “Last year, I decided, ‘I gotta stop that shit. I have to allow myself to become a fan of whatever the fuck enters my life.’ Last year, when the kid got punched onstage. The kid X got punched on stage. It was clearly big enough to come to my realm,” he said. “That leads me to hear some of his shit. I was like, ‘Damn. This nigga’s actually talented.'”

Cole starts talking X at about the eight-minute mark.
