Jack Harlow was named "Hitmaker of Tomorrow" by Variety on Sunday, December 5 in Los Angeles and explained how winning a reading contest as a kid helped him become a talented rapper.

He was in second grade at the time and won a reading contest by reading a bunch of Harry Potter books.

“I want you to imagine this little second grader, buzz cut, eyeglasses, crooked teeth, walking down the bleachers on stage to accept this trophy," explained Harlow, who recently said he doesn't want to be considered just a white rapper

"And before today, that’s the only time in my life I’ve gotten up in front of a crowd and won an award," he continued. "To be honest, all the ingredients were there. It was a competition and it brought out the competitor in me, which is a big part of the genre I’m in. All that reading is what made me the writer I am now, and I’m pretty sure it’s going to make me the ‘hitmaker maker of tomorrow.’”

Any reaction to Jack's acceptance speech?
