On Red Table Talk, Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith addressed August Alsina's claim he carried on an affair with Jada with Will's blessing.
First, they both denied that they ever denied it happened, as had been widely reported.
"We specifically never said anything," Will said. "It got to the point we needed to say something."
Jada and Will admitted that they both met August four years ago when he was sick and he needed guidance. Then Will and Jada broke up.
"From there, you and I were going through a difficult time," Jada said.
"I was done with you," Will said with a smile. "We decided we were going to separate for a period of time."
Jada then started a relationship with Alsina. "I was in a lot of pain. I was broken. I realized in that relationship you can't' find happiness outside of yourself," she explained.
I just wanted to feel good," Jada said about her affair with August. "And it was a joy to help heal somebody."
According to Will and Jada, Will never gave August his "blessing." But that's because it wasn't necessary, and they understood why August thought he did.
August and Jada ended when she signaled she was going to get back together with Will, and Alsina broke off all contact.
Jada hasn't spoken to Alsina for several years. Will and Jada are in a good place in their marriage now, but Will admitted there was a time he thought he would never speak to Jada again.
