JAY-Z Boycotted The Grammys Over DMX

DMX and JAY Z have had an interesting relationship.  The two Big Apple rappers were briefly in the supergroup Muder Inc. along with Ja Rule, but that fell apart and the rumor was X and Hov didn't get along.

However, there was always mutual respect

Appearing on LeBron's HBO Show The Shop, Hov explained that he boycotted the 1999 Grammys because they didn't nominate X.  Jay ended up winning for Vol. 2… Hard Knock Life but wasn't there.

“The first time I boycotted the Grammys was for him,” he said. “We both came out that year. He didn’t get nominated. He dropped two No. 1 albums in the same year and they didn’t even nominate him," Hov said. “I wasn’t even in the building because I boycotted it for him. There was a competitive thing, but it was big love.”

The two X albums were  It’s Dark And Hell Is Hot and Flesh Of My Flesh, Blood Of My Blood.
