J. Cole does features for other artists only slightly more often than he uses features on his tracks.

So it was a bit surprising to see that the NC spitter was going to be featured on one of the songs on Joey Badass's upcoming ALL-AMERIKKKAN BADA$$ album.

Badass explained how it came to be during an interview with the LA Leakers.

As many folks speculated, it was in exchange for Cole using Joey's 'Waves' beat on his track 'False Prophets.'

According to Joey, Cole was searching for beats on YouTube when he came across 'Waves' and started writing on it. He knew it was Joey's, so he called him into the studio to ask for his blessings to use it. During that session, J. said he would do a feature for Badass.

I already knew off of the strength of that, he was going to come through with the verse. He was telling me for a minute like, ‘Yo, you’re the only person I got on my feature list. I got you, I’m gonna make it happen, just wait. I gotta finish my album and shit.’ He literally sent the shit the day before his album came out," Joey explained.
The name of the track is 'Legendary'. Badass starts talking about how it came to be at the 13:30 mark.
