In a recent interview with The New York Times, Kanye West clarified his comments about slavery being a choice after receiving tons of backlash about it. 

In that same sit-down, the Kids See Ghost member said there was one point where he thought his wife Kim Kardashian was going to leave him over those words, which he also addressed on the cut "Wouldn't Leave." 

"Now I'm on fifty blogs getting fifty calls / My wife calling, screaming, saying we 'bout to lose it all / Had to calm her down 'cause she couldn't breathe / Told her she could leave me now but she wouldn't leave," he rapped.

Here's what Kanye told The New York Times about that line and Kim's being upset with him:

“There was a moment where I felt like after TMZ, maybe a week after that, I felt like the energy levels were low, and I called different family members and was asking, you know, ‘Was Kim thinking about leaving me after TMZ?’” he explained. “So that was a real conversation.”

Earlier this month, Kim spoke about the lyrics on "Wouldn't Leave" and admitted that her husband's slavery comments had her in tears. 

“Did I cry about it? Did I fight about it? Yeah," she told ET. “That’s not stuff we put on social media. I’m not going to start tweeting what my thoughts are, but we have those moments, and that was the one song that he didn’t really play for me until the last minute."
