Industry website Hits Daily Double has declared Kendrick Lamar the 2017 sales king.
Their updated accounting now projects DAMN. will do 560K sales plus streaming first week. This would be solidly more than the 505,000 current 2017 sales king Drake did with More Life last month.
More Life was released off cycle on a Saturday evening, so it had about two fewer days to accumulate its first week total. On the other hand, 60 percent of DAMN.'s haul will be album sales (with the rest streams), whereas More Life was closer to 50/50.
Final numbers will be in tomorrow. Then we can be sure if rap's critical darling has also become its biggest seller.
