Kevin Gates Wouldn't Sign Deal With Cash Money Until He Met Jim Jones

Kevin Gates is an odd duck.

Just ask his cousin.

So one can imagine Gates would make strange demands during a business negotiation.

According to Jim Jones, Gates told Birdman that he wouldn't sign with Cash Money unless he could meet Jones, who isn't affiliated with Baby's label. [Jump to ten minutes.]

“Shoutout to Kevin Gates. Cortez Bryant or one of them called me like, ‘Yo, Birdman trying to sign this artist. His name is Kevin Gates, and he just came home from jail. He the biggest thing going, and Birdman trying to sign him, but we got one problem, he’s not going to sign to Birdman unless he meets Jim Jones.'”

Jones did Birdman a solid and met Gates.  Then Gates spurned Cash Money for Atlantic Records, weirdo that he is.
