Lakers' Kentavious Caldwell-Pope Sentenced To Jail; Can Still Play Some Games

Well, this is interesting.

Lakers starting guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was recently sentenced to 25-days in jail for violating his probation stemming from a DUI arrest earlier this year.

He has to start serving the sentence right away, which would be a blow to his Lakers, who are obviously right in the middle of their season.

But there's a catch. Caldwell-Pope is allowed to leave jail under "work-release" rules. But since he can't leave the state, that would only apply to LA home games, or if they play the Clippers, Kings or Warriors.

That was why Caldwell-Pope wasn't there last night when the Lakers shocked the Rockets 122-116 in Houston, ending James Harden and company's 14-game winning streak.

Perhaps the 11-18 Lakers would be better off if Caldwell-Pope stays locked up for the duration of his sentence.
