For the fifth straight year, Sports Illustrated has ranked Cleveland Cavalier Lebron James as the number one player in the NBA.
Here's how SI did the ranking:
Rankings were assigned based on a fluid combination of subjective assessment and objective data. This list is an attempt to evaluate each player in a vacuum, independent of their current team context as much as possible. A player's prospects beyond the 2017-18 season did not play a part in the ranking process. Here's their top ten list. 10. Draymond Green Golden State Warriors 9. Giannis Antetokounmpo Milwaukee Bucks 8. Anthony Davis, New Orleans Pelicans
7. Chris Paul, Houston Rockets 6. Russell Westbrook, OKC Thunder 5. James Harden, Houston Rockets 4. Kawhi Leonard, San Antonio Spurs
3. Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors 2. Kevin Durant, Golden State Warriors 1. Lebon James, Cleveland Cavs.

ESPN's top 100 list this year famously put Lonzo Ball over Carmelo Anthony. Not so much SI: Melo is 37th and Lonzo is unranked.
