Last year, Lizzo was sued for sexually harassing and weight-shaming three of her background dancers.
She discussed and denied the allegations during a chat with Keke Palmer.
“I was very deeply hurt. Because these were three ex-dancers, so they weren’t on the tour. They didn’t, like, finish the tour out with us. But even regardless of that, these were people that I gave opportunities to. These were people that — I liked and appreciated them as dancers, respected them as dancers," she said. "Let’s be clear. I did nothing wrong, so I have no regrets, but I do have, now, this learned experience that is preparing me for the boss that I am becoming."
Among the dancers' complaints is that Lizzo called attention to one of the dancers' weights, questioned her commitment, and later fired her. They also alleged that Lizzo pressured one of them to touch a stripper in Amsterdam and accused the captain of Lizzo’s dance team of sexual harassment.
In addition, Lizzo's former wardrobe designer, Asha Daniels, filed a similar harassment suit against her.
However, Lizzo's name was recently removed from that particular litigation last month when a federal judge ruled Daniels had no standing to sue Lizzo. Daniels is still pursuing legal action against Lizzo’s touring and payroll companies.
