J. Cole, who tends not to get in on either side of the features game, was a surprise guest on Logic's new album Everybody.
In an interview with Hard Knock TV, Logic spoke on his "meaningful" friendship with his fellow rapper.
"When I first came up I was totally trying to be all these different rappers in a sense of learning their style. The biggest one was J. Cole. Loved J. Cole. Was obsessed with him."He goes on to say how starstruck and awkward he was when he first met Cole at a party. Still, a cautious friendship developed, and now Cole is an important part of his life.
"The reason I never talk about it is because I didn't want to be the 'lil homie' in the public eye," Logic explained. "But now I'm not, I'm me, I'm Logic. So it's really dope to now be able to say this.In the video, Logic discusses how Cole kept him at an arm's length at the beginning of their friendship. Now that Logic has become a famous rapper, he respects that approach even more.
He contrasts it with Drake's approach of embracing young rappers all out, and argues that Drake's way leads to negativity directed at both Drizzy and the young artist.
