Lupe Fiasco's behavior during the run up to Tetsuo & Youth hasn't been of a man who wants to sell a lot of albums. First he said he was quitting his high profile Twitter page. Then he said he no longer wanted "to be relevant."

The album dropped today, and 32-year old continued with his anti-marketing, telling DJ SKE that if you hadn't heard his old stuff you might also want to sit this one out.

I don’t think this album is for new Lupe fans. I don’t think you can get this album and become a Lupe fan. It’s a really good album, but it’s not meant for that. It’s not meant to get you to come in and buy this.
Fiasco was at war with Atlantic Records last year over the release of Testuo, which has been in the works for almost two years. So perhaps that's why he's been so frank in his assessment of who should buy it now that it's finally hit market.

We haven't heard the album yet, but the early reviews have been strong. So it may be more accessible than Lupe is leading on.

If you've heard it, let us know what you think.
