Machine Gun Kelly did Breakfast Club this morning and, of course, spoke about Eminem.
They asked him about the Hailie Tweet that started it all in 2012. He said he apologized for it privately, but never to Eminem because he's recluse who you can't get in touch with
"I spoke to Paul Rosenberg and his team because that's as close as man to man with Eminem as you get," he said.
Nevertheless, he felt that he was somewhat blackballed, both at his and Em's shared label Interscope and in the industry as a whole.
As for Eminem's claim he never even talked to anyone about Kelly back then?
"Em lied." MGK said.
Machine Gun Kelly also dismissed the rumors that in 2018 Interscope was staging the beef to gas up his career.
"That would be great. That would be a great help," he said sarcastically.
Then he compared his "Rap Devil" diss to Eminem's "Killshot" response.
"You took two weeks, I took two days," says MGK. "You used a Ronny J track, I used a Ronny J track. You used a million dollar studio, I used a dressing room before sound check."
When Charlamagne Tha God explained that Eminem may have taken a while to respond because he wasn't sure if he wanted to help MGK's career, Kelly said he was sick of that narrative.
"I've sold over 20 million records as Machine Gun Kelly. I've been in ten movies ... it's very hard for me to accept that this career just budded out of nowhere via him."
He also continued to say he didn't think "Killshot" was very good:
"Killshot was a leg shot. We're talking about facts, you're talking about man buns," Kelly said, explaining he had a man bun for an acting role. "You called me a mumble rapper. Can we just pour some out for this old dumb ass?"
In fact, MGK thought so lowly of "Killshot" that he won't be dropping the response that he had already readied.
"I heard 'Killshot' and I put that shit back in the holster. I'm like 'Oh word, aight, he called me a mumble rapper dog..."
