JAY-Z samples Nas's track "The World Is Yours" on his legendary Reasonable Doubt track "Dead Presidents".

Hov actually wanted Nas on the track, but he declined and some say that contributed to their famous feud.

Rapper MC Serch was a Def Jam exec when Hov came to clear the sample, and he explained what Nas got paid for it -- and why he's still getting paid.

"So I'm the head of CHR at Def Jam," Serch told NORE. "They are about to put out Reasonable Doubt.  Dame and Jay come to my office.  They say, we have to clear this sample, take care of us.  I say, 'OK, no problem, just give us $2500.  But just know we are going to have 25 percent of your record on publishing ... Jay don't own a piece of Nas's catalog but Nas owns a piece of JAY's catalog. "
