Meek Mill Gets New Hearing In 2008 Drug and Gun Conviction

Meek Mill is still paying the price for his 2008 drugs and guns conviction.

But that may be coming to an end.

Last week, Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner filed an appeal with the Pennsylvania Superior Court that asked that Meek get a new trial with a new judge. Meek's legal team has long claimed Judge Genece Brinkley, who's presided over his case, is biased against him.

Now Meek has been granted that appellate court hearing, during which he will argue to have his 11-years old conviction overturned.

"We’re looking forward to the oral argument before the Superior Court of Pennsylvania and to, hopefully, having Meek’s conviction vacated. In light of the District Attorney’s recent filing, where he supports the granting of a new trial to Meek and the recusal of Judge Brinkley, we hope to have this injustice rectified once and for all," Jordan Siev, Meek Mill's attorney, said in a statement.

In addition to the bias allegations against Brinkley, Reginald Graham -- who arrested and testified against Meek in 2008 -- appeared on a confidential list of police officers with a history of lying. So Meek's legal team will have a lot of material to work with.

Meek's hearing will be on June 16th.
