Meek Mill's legal roller coaster continues.
Earlier this week, his Post-Conviction Relief Act request to be granted bail was rejected by his nemesis, Judge Genece Brinkley. Meek's lawyers filed the request after learning his arresting officer (and the only one who testified against him) Reginald Graham was on a list of corrupt police officers compiled by the Philadelphia District Attorney Lawrence Krasner.
Krasner will now allow Meek to appeal Brinkley's rejection of the request to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
In a new motion to the Supreme Court, Kranser states he "does not oppose defendant’s application to the extent he requests release on bail pending the current proceedings, but opposes all other requested relief at this time."
Meek Mill's lawyer Joe Tacopina welcomed the decision:
"We are encouraged by the Philadelphia District Attorney’s steadfast stance in not opposing Meek Mill’s release on bail at the Pennsylvania Supreme Court level while the current legal proceedings continue, even in light of Judge Brinkley’s vindictive and erroneous decision," Tacopina said in a statement.
Tacopina and the rest of Meek's legal team have long alleged Brinkley has a vendetta against Meek.
PA governor Tom Wolf has supported Krasner's stance on Meek since the DA first announced it last month.
I support D.A. Larry Krasner’s position in the case of Robert Williams (Meek Mill). Our criminal justice system is in need of repair. That’s why my admin has made efforts to invest in programs that divert individuals from the system, improve public safety, and promote fairness. https://t.co/f8s3JjGOuP
