There was talk a while back that Drake and Metro Boomin's beef was over a girl.
But the producer said that's not the case and explained what's at the root of their conflict.
"Me and [Drake], we had a personal issue, and for the record, not over no girl or nothing silly like that. It was a personal issue that really hurt me and disappointed me," Metro told GQ. "But if you take all the rap entertainment out of it, it’s like, have you ever been real cool with somebody, and y’all fell out over something? It happens every day. It’s just regular sh*t. This just happens to have an audience."
And Metro kept the audience entertained in May by dissing Drake in a dozen tweets, something that he now regrets.
One of those tweets showed Drake in blackface, which was an image that Pusha T used for the cover of his Drake diss, "The Story of Adidon." In another tweet, Metro suggested that Drake had plastic surgery.
The producer dropped the first instrumental diss track as well, the song "BBL Drizzy."
"Now I did have my moment online, which I do regret," said Metro. "I should have been stronger than that. That was out of character for me. But at a certain point, it’s like, I don’t rap, bro, so you’re going to just sh*t on me on all of these songs … I’m not going to get in the booth, so I’m finna tweet at you."
Do you think Metro's words will smooth things over with Drake or anger him even more?
