Migos signed with 300 Entertainment in 2014 and dropped their debut album, the commercial flop YRN, under the label founded by Lyor Cohen.

They would leave 300 in 2015. It was an ugly break up, which included Migos badmouthing 300 on social media.

In 2017, the trio would sign with Motown.

Migos and their label Quality Control discussed the breakup with Complex. They say they had to leave because 300 wasn't getting their music out in a timely fashion.

"300 was the biggest hurdle. They tried to hold us against our will," Offset says. "It wasn't never no in-house hurdles we ever had, like where it had been a problem. With 300, that was the biggest thing, going through times and situations with them."

"For 18 months, we couldn't sell no product," Quality Control exec Pierre "Pee" Thomas explained. "Whatever that was already out, that was already on iTunes or whatever, that was cool, but anything that we was putting out, it was like we was shackled down."

It cost Migos and Quality Control half a million in legal fees to get out of their 300 contract. They dropped "Bad and Boujee" soon after they did and the rest is history.
