N.W.A won't be the fifth Hip Hop group to be enshrined in the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame. At least not this year.

The seminal Compton band were among the 15 nominated for the honor, but fell short in the voting. Green Day, Bill Withers, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, Lou Reed, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and the Paul Butterfield Blues Band made the cut. Green Day made it in their first year of eligibility, and the late Lou Reed made it for the second time, having already been enshrined for his role in The Velvet Underground.

Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five were the first Hip Hop act to make the Hall of Fame in 2007, and since then Run DMC (2009), the Beastie Boys (2012) and Public Enemy (2013) have made the cut.

While DJ Yella, Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, MC Ren and the late Eazy-E might not be Hall-bound, their music is still out there and making trouble.
