Nick Cannon Shades Eminem; Claims White Girls Make Hip Hop Stars

Nick Cannon said people in the hood don't play Eminem's music. He then explained why it doesn't hurt the rapper's sales or his pockets.

"It's capitalism at the end of the day," Cannon told VladTV. "Hip hop music, the people who buy hip hop music are white people. Specifically, are white girls. If you look at the demographics, the way it all breaks down, music in general, even when you look at the streaming numbers, women, number one, are the biggest connoisseurs of music when it comes to consumption. And then when you break down demographically how it all works from the fanbases to the girls who buy tickets and screaming in the front rows. They create the stars."

Cannon — who beefed with Em over his ex-wife Mariah Carey back in the day — also said Em's fans are different from people in the hood who like other rappers. Griselda's Conway the Machine said something similar last week and called Em's fans "nerds."

"Us as guys, we sit back and we respect cats," Cannon explained. "We respect Nas, we respect Hov, we respect [E-40] and [Ice] Cube. We can sit and talk about Em, but we ain't going to go out and fanboy."

Do you agree with Cannon on Shady and white girls making Hip Hop stars?
