During Nicki Minaj's appearance on Ellen, Ellen asked Nicki why she was so mad at Travis Scott.
"Why do people say things like upset or angry? When somebody says how they feel they are not always upset or angry," Nicki argued.
So what were her feelings toward Travis if not anger, Ellen wondered.
"I wanted to punch him in his fucking face," Nicki shot back.
Alright then. Here's more clarification.
"The thing is, it’s not anger, it’s what’s right and what’s wrong and what’s fair. I’ve had a number two album and I never cared," she explained. "It’s just that when you have a number two album to someone who is selling shirts and merch, and selling passes for a tour that's not even announced yet, it feels like you’re being tricked. It feels like, you know, someone is playing a game and like beating you at a game as opposed to just selling music. I want to sell music ... he sold a lot of t-shirts and sweaters and tour passes, and so we’re not going to have that ... He didn't have the number 1 album, Queen was the number 1 album."
Nicki also pointed out that she lost 12 hours of her first week because Queen didn't (somewhat surprise) drop until noon on Friday, rather than midnight. In the end, Travis's Astroworld did 220K in its second week whereas Nicki's Queen did 185K in its first.
Has she convinced you she was not really mad?
