The kick gets its name from Kobe’s tenacity to push to the point where he can't push himself any further -- or simply "blackout." The veteran Laker’s vigorous workout once consisted of running for 2 hours, basketball for 2 hours, and 2 hours of weightlifting, 6 days a week for 6 months.

The blackout kicks may not be all black, as the name suggest. But its use of Persian violet with black accents make it plenty sleek and incognito. The Persian violet synthetic upper serves as a base for the suede like black inserts found on the heel and tongue, with laces to match.
