Hip Hop music is currently going through a rough patch regarding creativity and commercial success, according to Juicy J, Bow Wow and a whole lot of other people.
Recently, Offset spoke on the subject, and he believes that rap is suffering because artists keep doing the same thing. [Head to the 6:30 mark]
"I’m noticing that the no-content music ain’t catching nobody’s ear," Set told Ebro Darden. "I’m noticing that the numbers are down in our genre specifically because I feel like everything is so the same. The next new n*gga is another n*gga that was just here. It’s nothing new being brought to the game ... Not just on the sound side, but just all the way around as creatively too. Most videos be like a Rolls Royce in the background, some chains on, and that sh*ts getting boring, fellas. It’s like no --eal entertainment."
But what Offset didn't mention -- nor Juicy J or Bow Wow, is that underground rap isn't being accused of being stale or boring, just mainstream rap, which is only a part of Hip Hop.
