Post Malone came on the scene as a gold teeth, cornrows-wearing Hip Hop guy.
But he quickly moved in a more pop direction and will drop a country album this week.
Right away, people accused Malone of using Hip Hop to get his foot in the door while calling him a straight-up culture vulture.
He talked about that backlash in a new interview with CBS Sunday Morning and said it drove him to drink.
"It sucked. I was a kid," said Malone. "[I would] drink a lot. Absolutely, [I took it hard]. It's hard not to [take it personal]."
Malone then went on to say that he writes songs for people who love him, not hate him.
Do you think that he used Hip Hop to gain traction since he quickly moved on from it?
