Philadelphia councilman Mark Squilla has proposed a bill which would require the city’s venues provide the names and addresses of all of their artists and groups to local police before they perform.
The police would then be able to veto the show if they think it would endanger the public.
Many believe the bill would end up being discriminatory against rap acts.
Squilla insists that no particular type of music is being targeted, and all will have to register. But the bill the was created right after a fatal shooting occurred before a Lil' Durk and Gunplay concert last September.
If you disagree with Squilla’s bill, you can encourage the city council not to pass it by signing this Charge.org petition.
