Keefe D pleaded not guilty to the murder of Tupac Shakur in a Las Vegas courtroom today.
Judge Tierra D. Jones asked the prosecution if they would seek the death penalty in the 1996 killing.
"Every first-degree murder case, I have to ask the state if they are going to commit to going to committee to seek the death penalty," Jones said.
The state said it wouldn't.
Keefe D is accused of providing the gun that killed Pac and encouraging the shooting as retribution for a fight Pac had gotten into earlier that day.
A public defender is currently representing Keefe. However, Keefe intends to use Ross Goodman, the son of legendary mob lawyer and former Las Vegas mayor Oscar Goldman, as his attorney going forward.
His next court date is November 7th.
