Last week, R Kelly was sitting on his bed in his Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago prison cell when another inmate entered and began beating him.

That inmate has been identified as Jeremiah Shane Farmer, a Latin King from Indiana who's serving time for beating two men to death with a hammer.  Farmer punched Kells in the head and torso, only stopping when a guard came in with pepper spray.

It's been reported that Farmer, 39, was angry that pro-Kelly protestors had put the facility in lockdown.  In court filings, Farmer says "the government made him attack" Kelly and that he hoped the assault would "shed light on government corruption."

Kelly was moved out of general population following the attack.  Kells has been locked up since July of 2019 and faces numerous sex crime charges in Illinois and New York.
