Ray Rice's indefinite suspension for the shocking elevator beating of his fiancee may be coming to an end.

League sources who spoke to CBS Sports Jason La Canfora have told him that an appeal hearing date has been set for Rice and a decision should be reached in a few weeks. Legal experts say that Rice has a very strong case for reinstatement, since the NFL's new domestic violence policy -- instituted in the wake of the Rice controversy -- only mandates a six game suspension for first time offenders like Rice.

If Rice is reinstated, he will have to find a new team. The Baltimore Ravens cut the 27-year old soon after the video surfaced.

Rice struggled in 2013, only rushing for 660 yards with a career low 3.1 yards-per-carry, after putting up over 1100 yards in each of the previous four seasons. His receiving numbers also slipped.

Given his decline and his new notoriety it's not out of the question that he will go unclaimed. Two possible destination for him are Indianapolis, who are coached by former Ravens assistant Chuck Pagano, and New England, who need a running back in the wake of the season ending injury to Stevan Ridley, and who don't shy away from employing controversial players.

Would you welcome Ray Rice on your favorite team?
