Rita Ora's time at Roc Nation didn't end well.
In 2015, she sued (and was counter-sued) to get out of an 11-year contract she had signed with JAY-Z's company in 2008. The parties settled out of court and the terms haven't been disclosed. But it looks like she doesn't have a gag order.
In a new interview with The Sunday Times, Rita reflected on her time at Roc. According to her, being a woman held her back.
"I want to find the right word here, and maybe this is my interpretation, but I do feel I got discriminated against because I was a woman," said Rita. "I almost felt, maybe this is just my interpretation, I could have had a better chance if I’d been male."
Ora didn't elaborate on that statement and neither JAY-Z nor Roc has commented on her allegation.
Do you think her sex played a role in her treatment and lack of success at Roc?
