Bonanno crime family associate Salvatore Zottola was almost snuffed out right in front of his lavish Bronx estate.
A dark Nissan pulled up beside Zottola Wednesday morning as he was walking to his car in front of his three house compound. A gunman fired once on Zottola, sending him to the pavement.
As you can see, the gunman then left the car and shot at Zottola three more times as he rolled around on the ground trying to avoid bullets.
Zottola was hit three times -- so he did dodge one bullet -- including a graze wound to the head. But he will survive the attack; he's in the hospital in critical but stable condition.
His neighbors said they expected something like this to happen:
“It’s not a surprise. Look at what he does for a living,” one woman said. “I can’t say any more. It’s not worth my life. It’s not worth my daughter’s life.”
