Black Hippy has been around since 2009, when Ab-Soul, Jay Rock, Kendrick Lamar and ScHoolboy Q were signed to TDE.

Since then, the supergroup has done a remix and a bunch of features, and there's been a lot talk about an album.

Don't get your hopes up for that album.

In a new interview with Montreality, Q said the foursome may just be too busy to ever get together for a substantial project.

"No matter how much the fans want it to happen, the chances of us getting into the studio together and working on Black Hippy is slim. There's just too much going on," he explained. Those my homies, of course I want to do an album together," Q continued. "It's just the time ... I'm with it, I want to do it. It's just the time."

Last year, TDE president Terrence “Punch” Henderson expressed a similar sentiment when asked about a Black Hippy album.

“Everybody has their individual careers, so it’s tough to find the time for everybody to get back together,” Punch says. “We’re really just going to have to block out a couple of months, or however long, and just lock everybody in the studio like the old days.”
