Sean Paul Thinks Drake's Vulturing His Culture Without Credit

Last year, Jamaican-born Dancehall star Sean Paul called out artists like Drake who take from his culture and don't give enough credit.

It is a sore point when people like Drake or Bieber or other artists come and do dancehall-orientated music but don’t credit where dancehall came from and they don’t necessarily understand it,” Paul told the Guardian. “A lot of people get upset, they get sour."
He expanded on that point in a new interview with Metro.

“I think at the time when it was popping off, it would have been good for [Drake] to actually put accolades towards the whole culture,” Sean Paul said. “He’s friendly with a few people in the business in Jamaica and that’s good, I love it. But if he had given more accolades when he was actually making it and said 'this is the music I love', it would have been cool.”
Paul also distinguished between Drake's and Ed Sheeran's relationships with Dancehall. Sheeran scored a huge hit with the Dancehall-tinged track 'Shape of You,' which Sheeran originally wrote to give to Rihanna.

"Ed Sheeran has done one song that is huge and it’s dancehall reminiscent. But that is one song, he [Drake] had an album full of dancehall so I think he should have paid a bit of an accolade and told people in the press that is where I’m coming from,” Paul explained.
What do you think of Sean Paul's words about Drake?
