Sir Mix-A-Lot Wins 'Anaconda' Lawsuit

Sir Mix-A-Lot's classic ode to rumps 'Baby Got Back,' is the nuts and bolts of the Nicki Minaj smash 'Anaconda.'

Not long after Minaj's song started dominating the charts, songwriter David Ford sued, claiming that Mix-A-Lot used one of his beats on 'Baby Got Back'.

While that would have happened in 1992, Ford argued it wasn't until 2014, when 'Anaconda' dropped, that he realized he wasn't registered as a co-author on the track.

Washington Federal Court Judge Robert Lasnik just dismissed the lawsuit, writing Ford's claim was "frivolous or, at the very least, motivated by an unfair desire to cash in on the efforts of another."

He also questioned why Ford "remained silent for two decades, never asserting that he was an author until a lucrative license was obtained by defendants."

In addition to dismissing the case, Lasnik ordered Ford to pay Mix-A-Lot's court fees.

Looks like Mix-A-Lot will be dining off of 1992 for many more years to come.
