James “Fly” Williams never made it big as a pro baller.

But his exploits in college and on the New York city blacktops have made the 64 year old a legend, ranked the third greatest street baller of all time by the Street Basketball Association (SBA).

Now you can add accused heroin kingpin to his resume.

Fly has been arrested on accusations that he ran a heroin ring which sold 2 million vials of the drug (street value estimated between $12 and $20 million) in Brooklyn.

Prosecutors say many of the buys took place near the Brownsville Recreation Center, where Williams had mentored kids for 15 years as a volunteer.

“They just cared about making money, exploiting addicts and the heroin epidemic that is spreading throughout our communities with devastating results," said Acting Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez.
Williams is no stranger to big numbers. He once scored 100 points in a sanctioned summer league game, and topped 50 points twice as a freshman at Austin Peay State University, leading the school to a rare NCAA tournament birth.

His pro career was underwhelming: averaging 9.4 points a game during a single ABA season.

Now he faces the challenge of his life.
