In 2016, Troy Ave and Taxstone had a wild-west style gunfight backstage at a T.I. show at Irving Plaza in New York city
Troy Ave's bodyguard Ronald “Banga” McPhatter was killed in the incident and DNA suggests that Taxstone fired the shot that did him in.
Taxstone is in prison, having pleaded guilty to receiving a firearm in interstate commerce with the intent to commit another felony and possessing a firearm after having previously been convicted of a felony.
He pleaded not guilty to killing McPhatter. That trial keeps getting delayed.
In the meantime, he criticized Troy's behavior leading up to the incident.
"This n*gga goes around beating people up who say Troy music is wack and now I got to sit in jail," Tax typed. "If you attack 3 people in a club in 6 months then third time you don' make it out this makes you a innocent black man?? I'm in jail with no a bail because A hired goon that was hired to do something to me was neutralized??"
If convicted of the murder of Banga, Tax faces life. Troy is expected to take the stand when it does go to trial.
