In Hip Hop it's customary for certain rappers to check in with local gangsters when they're in town. It shows respect and it helps keep that rapper safe while he's visiting.

But Tekashi 6ix9ine said he won't be doing any of that. He explained why in an Internet video.

"There's gangsters all over this world, East Coast, West Coast, Down South, Up North, all over the world there's gangsters," he said. "I don't check into nobody. I respect everybody's soil that I walk on, but I will not check in anywhere I go and it's gonna stay like that. So stop trying to tell niggas, niggas gotta check in. It's 2018. Niggas mention my name for clout.  It's not even about gangsta and respecting nigga's words and g-codes. It's now 'I want clout'. Everybody who mentions my name is a fucking rapper. You are not fucking gangsters. You're rappers and you want to make a name for yourself. It's not going to happen. I don't check in nowhere I go.

Do you think Tekashi will pay for this defiant stance?
