Last year, Tekashi 6ix9ine did an interview with Billboard in which he claimed that he and DMX became friends when they were both locked up (X was in for tax evasion) and even suggested DMX encouraged him to snitch.

"Me and DMX was in full-blown conversations that whole time I was locked up," Tekashi told Billboard in 2020. "And I'm on the jail phone cause he was at MCC. He was just released and one of the guys I was locked up with was celling with DMX at the MCC Manhattan, the Manhattan Correctional Center in MCC. He got released, we stayed in communication, he like 'Yo boy, do what you do.'  DMX knows what's up.  DMX was in there doing bible studies in MCC.  Put it like this, all the rappers that speak that gangsta sh*t is not about that sh*t ... none of these rappers ever caught a body but they speak "murder, murder, murder" all the time."

Rapper turned podcaster Willie D is among those who doubt DMX would say something that could be interpreted as "go snitch."
