Stephen A. Smith's comments about Colin Kaepernick have put him at odds with some in the black community, including Terrell Owens.

The ESPN talker believes that Kaep isn't serious about returning to the NFL, and rather prefers to be a martyr.

"He don’t want to play,” Smith said of Kaep, after he switched up the location of his NFL workout at the last minute. “He wants to be a martyr."

In a message to the black community, he clarified those comments, explaining that he supports the QB's protest against police brutality and racism,  he just questions his behavior since he's lost his spot in the league.

 Owens, who displayed his own publicity-seeking behavior during his Hall Of Fame career, confronted Smith about his Kaep take, suggesting the streets now think his white First Take partner Max Kellerman -- who is more pro-Kaep -- is blacker than him.

"What [Kaepernick] wanted was transparency. For people to see the full workout," T.O. said. "You mentioned Max [Kellerman] is gonna get in here, I'm in the streets. Max almost seems blacker than you, Stephen A."

Stephen A. did not appreciate having his black card played with like that.

"Timeout, with all due respect my brother. I'm gonna check you. You don't cross that line," Smith said. "Like I said, you Kaepernick, Eric Reid, any of y'all that want to debate me in front of black people, name the time and place."

For his part, Kellerman defended Smith and said he was uncomfortable with people using him to question Stephen A.'s blackness.
