It can easily be said that Sexyy Red and The Roots stand on the opposite side of the Hip Hop spectrum.

Many consider the Philly band to be more on the conscious side of rap and Red on the more mainstream, perhaps, ratchet side.

So when The Roots' drummer Questlove announced on Instagram that she'd be performing at the next Roots Picnic, all hell broke loose among their fans.

"Man…… can’t believe you’re adding Ratchet Roger to the bill! Smh," one person wrote.

"@questlove sexy red is not somebody we want to see," another person stated. "She is pushing an agenda that does not represent the black woman in a good light. Please reconsider 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾."

"I guess the song 'What They Do' has officially lost its meaning," a third comment read, referencing The Roots' 1996 single where they criticize mainstream rap.

What do you think about Red performing in front of a crowd full of rap purists?
