Up and coming rapper Houdini is dead after a broad daylight shooting in Toronto's entertainment district yesterday that also seriously wounded a 15-year-old boy and 27-year-old woman.
“This was very brazen,” said Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders.
Six to ten shots were fired in what police are describing was a "targetted attack." Saunders added the crime is "very solvable."
"It turns out the suspect vehicle, based on the evidence we have right now, was waiting for about forty minutes for the occupants of another vehicle to arrive to their vehicle,” he said. “When they did, the suspect vehicle made a U-turn, came out, and started firing at this group of individuals.”
Houdini, 21, had been working on music with Tory Lanez, and Tory mourned his passing on Instagram.
"I’m trying , and I can’t fight the tears from falling .. i can’t even find the words for a speech right now .. YALL TOOK MY F*CKING N*GGA AND ALL HE WANTED TO DO WAS LIVE !!!!!! #RIP Houdini 4 Ever, Tory typed.
Meek Mill also mourned.
While people tend to think of Toronto as a super-safe place, its murder rate recently edged past New York's.
RIP Houdini.
