UCLA Arrest Could Cost Puff Daddy Big In Booze Business

Despite getting hit with a bunch of very serious felonies, it's unlikely Puff Daddy is going to be seeing prison. One, he's really rich, and, two, UCLA's coaching staff doesn't seem eager to pursue charges.

But if he's convicted (or pleads) to even just one of the felonies against him he's going to be a lot less rich.

That's because he would likely be forced to divest himself from his most profitable business venture; his partnership with spirit giant Diageo.

Diddy has a promotional deal that entitles him to 50 percent of the profits of Diageo's Ciroc vodka. But various codes forbid convicted felons from being in the liquor business. Depending on how Diddy's Ciroc contract is set up, he could lose that revenue stream. Furthermore, Diddy (along with Diageo) own the tequila brand DeLeón. If the 45-year old picks up a felony conviction, he would almost surely have to sell his share.

You can read more about the regulations and ramifications corncerning felons and the spirits business here.

Bottom line: If the video of the UCLA incident prosecutors have is damning enough, there may no longer be Puffy juice.
