Wale has opened up about dealing with mental health issues in the past, and he's done it again during an interview with HipHop-N-More.
The DMV rapper — who just called himself one of the greatest rappers of all time — went into the difficulties of fame and how fickle fans can be.
“You’ve gotta remind yourself who you are, especially with like celebrities,” said Wale. “Monday you going to bed, looking at your comments, everybody telling you you’re the greatest, and by Friday everybody telling you that you fell off and you’re the worst. It’s difficult.”
Wale then offered a suggestion on how record labels can help their artists deal with fame.
“I think that record deals should come with like, mental health insurance, to be honest,” he said. “I think it should be part of it. The road to success is not like, there’s no map, you know what I’m saying? And you can spiral at any time. It’s hard to keep yourself in check, because there’s a lot of enablers, and the thing that’s even worse than enablers now is people who are so determined to not be an enabler, that all they do is they think they giving you tough love, but they kicking you when you’re down."
Do you agree with Wale's point?
