Ice Cube and Warner Bros. have been fighting about the future of the Friday franchise for a minute
The battle started when Cube submitted the first draft of Last Friday -- which would be the fourth installment of the franchise -- to the studio. They rejected it because Cube set it in prison, which Warner Bros. deemed "not funny.
In response, Cube demanded the studio "surrender" the rights to the franchise to him.
They didn't and these days Ice Cube is so out of the loop of what's going on with Friday he may have been tricked into thinking there was going to be a Friday prequel on HBO Max starring Vince Staples and Druski
He responded to a joke Tweet about the casting of the series -- which doesn't appear to exist in any form -- by typing "blasphemy".
Now it could be Cube knew it was a joke and was just reacting to what a bad idea it would have been if real.
Either way, it's going to be awkward if Druski or Staples sees Cube at a party.
