Up and coming New York rapper Young Ash is in big trouble after scamming her social media followers.
According to the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, Ash convinced some of her hundreds of thousands of followers to give her their bank information (usually through some kind of contest), which she then used to deposit checks and make quick ATM withdrawals as part of a six-person criminal gang.
Yesterday, Ash was arrested. During her arraignment, she pleaded not guilty to grand larceny.
“As Commissioner O’Neill and I warned last year, ‘card cracking’ scammers with large followings on Snapchat and other platforms are luring people into their schemes by showing off designer merchandise, luxury cars and stacks of cash,” said DA Cyrus Vance Jr. in a statement.
“Social media users who see these posts promising quick, fast money should know that they are scams.”
If you happened to fall victim to Ash's scam you should probably delete your account and leave the Internet forever.
