Upstart Staten Island drill rapper CJ has a hit with his track 'Whoopty.'

With that have come criticisms of his authenticity.

Some believe he is an 'industry plant," citing the music execs in his family. He's also getting push back for using Blood or "Brim" imagery in his video without being in the set or getting permission.

Here's a reported Blood leader La Brim Johnson weighing in from prison.

"I'm going to take a moment to set the record straight, I see there's a lot controversy over this 'Whoopty' thing.  So first and foremost, CJ made a hot song .  But the content that he used is not his content.  So his foundation is based off a lie.  He's not Whoopty.  He don't know nothing about Whoopty.  He just saw a fly splash and jacked it.  Which is a smart move but in life you gotta show respect and you can't live a lie.  Now you jacking something that they got dudes in jail for ... they gave me 30 years for a lifestyle that you talking about but you never lived," Johnson explained.

There's also a video that claims to show CJ being beaten for faking his affiliation, although it is not confirmed as authentic.
